Lewis Soil Conservation District Updated:03/2020

The Lewis Soil Conservation District was organized in 1941. Rolling plateaus cut by deeply entrenched streams characterize most of Lewis County. Slopes on the agricultural land range from 5 to 15 percent, some reach 30 percent. The District provides technical assistance in areas such as non-irrigated cropland, non-industrial private forestland and rangeland management.

Mission

  • Dedicated to conserving natural resources and promoting sound management practices that protect the environment and are economically feasible and productive.
  • Provide local leadership in the development and productive use of soil, water and related resources to improve soil quality, soil health, water quality, long term sustainability.
