Coeur d'Alene Field Office Updated:01/2022

The Coeur d’Alene Field Office manages just over 99,000 acres of public lands mostly centered around Lake Coeur d’Alene and the Silver Valley of Shoshone County, Idaho. The office manages an active forestry and fuels management program focused on improving forest health and wildlife habitat. The field office includes recreation opportunities for hiking, biking, boating and wildlife viewing around the scenic Lake Coeur d' Alene. Notable sites include: Mineral Ridge National Scenic Trail (invigorating three-mile loop, enjoyed by over 75,000 visitors year-round); Blackwell Island Boat Launch (four launch lanes, parking, picnicking, swimming and native plant garden) and Windy Bay Boater Park (overnight moorage or tent camping accessible only by boat). Each winter from November–February, a migrating population of over 200 bald eagles visits the area to feed on spawning kokanee salmon, beckoning visitors from across the county to take in the annual migration.
