Big D Ranch, Inc. Updated:08/2020

Welcome to Big D Ranch in Meridian, where four generations of the Durrant family currently farm 1100 acres of mostly sugar beets, corn, wheat and pinto beans.

Clarence Henry and Evelynn Margaret Durrant came to Idaho in 1947 from the Provo, Utah lake area where they had been growing celery to help feed the troops during WWII.

The ranch originally started with feed crops for thier dairy of about 100 cows and their laying hens of several thousands. BIg D Ranch was officially formed in 1957 upon the passing of Clarence, until that point it had been a Big D Brand. The ranch grew into 300 milking cows and 60,000 laying hens. Since that time the family has shifted their focus away from dairy and poultry and now primarily rely on crops.

Richard Durrant has volunteered at the Kuna Fire Department, served on the FSA board and has been on several Department of Agriculture committees. The family is very involved with FFA and are happy to support any activity to do with agriculture and thier local community.

Even though the valley has grown, the Durrants find that the people are still friendly towards agriculture. They believe Idaho is a great place to live and that it has a great climate, good water and the infrastructure to help agriculture grow.
