Invasive species introduced into Idaho are affecting plant and animal communities on farms, ranches, parks, waters, forests, natural areas, and in backyards. Human activity such as trade, travel, and tourism have all increased substantially, escalating the speed and volume of species movement to unprecedented levels.

This strategic plan outlines a framework for how Idaho can continue at the forefront of state efforts to cost-effectively prevent and manage invasive species. This strategy focuses upon three goals:

  1. Prevent the introduction of new invasive species to Idaho.
  2. Limit the spread of existing invasive species populations in Idaho.
  3. Abate ecological and economic impacts that result from invasive species populations in Idaho.
