All Commercial Beekeepers with more than 50 colonies are required to register their bees with the Idaho State Department of Agriculture and pay a registration fee as well as a honey advertising tax on each colony of bees.
Registration for Hobbyist Beekeepers with less than 50 colonies is highly recommended to help safeguard and promote Idaho’s Apiary industry. Permits are also required to bring bees into Idaho from other states. ?
